This final module is pragmatic in nature as it highlights what a religious leader can do by way of action in relationship to exercising an effective ministry with those afflicted and affected by addiction. It is important to keep in mind a critical consideration as this module is taught. The culture of each student needs to be taken into consideration. Students from countries other than the U.S. will have cultural mores that will impact the way in which they appropriate the material predicated on cultural attitudes that are as pervasive and powerful as personal attitudes. With that same caution, it is imperative to realize that not all countries have adequate resources for dealing with addiction. Likewise, there is no monolithic culture in the U.S. either! The population of the U.S. is made up of people from most every culture on the face of the planet. In addition to that, there is a specific culture associated with not only every region, but every state, city and community as well. Irrespective of the background of the student, s/he will have to translate the material into her or his own cultural context.
