February 8–14, 2026
Children affected by parental addiction often struggle in silence. COA Awareness Week helps caring adults recognize what children may be carrying, share messages that reduce shame, and connect families with support.
Some children find a supportive adult who helps protect them from the worst effects of family addiction. Others believe the situation is their fault or that it is their job to fix the person they love. Every child deserves accurate information, a safe person to talk with, and the hope that life can be different.
About 10% to 15% of the world’s children live with at least one parent with a substance use disorder. During COA Awareness Week, every informed adult can help replace isolation with understanding and hope.
