NACoA’s September Campaign
September 1–30, 2026 · Awareness + Fundraising
This September, the National Association for Children of Addiction is bringing people together for nearly 19 million children impacted by familial substance use—and we need you.
Children Deserve Recovery Too.
WalkGiveShare
When substance use affects a family, children can spend years adapting to uncertainty, protecting family secrets, and trying to make sense of what is happening around them.
They may feel isolated, responsible, ashamed, confused, or unseen. They deserve adults and communities that recognize what they are carrying and remind them they are not alone.

Design a Firefly
For children, families, schools, classrooms, community groups, child-serving organizations, and professionals working with children.
Invite a child to create a firefly as a symbol of hope, courage, and being heard. The activity launches with Voices of the Unheard and continues beyond September.
Submitting a Firefly constitutes permission for NACoA to use and share the submitted artwork.
Why NACoA
The National Association for Children of Addiction leads Voices of the Unheard because children need more than awareness. They need practical resources—and trusted adults and professionals who can recognize when a child needs help and respond with care.
Learn About NACoA →The September Walking Challenge
Throughout September, people across the country are building one collective step total for children impacted by familial substance use.
Every step shared becomes a visible act of support for children.
Voices of the Unheard is the campaign.
19 Million Steps is how we walk together for children.
Give Through Voices of the Unheard
Campaign gifts support the work NACoA already does for children and the adults who serve them:
A child should never have to earn the right to be supported.
Partners + Organizations
Businesses, schools, community groups, media, partners, and organizations can share materials, walk together, host a Firefly activity, raise funds, or help the story travel. NACoA can help you find the right way in.
Stay Connected
