Season’s Greetings!
At NACoA, we believe that hope is the foundation for powerful healing for children impacted by the disease of addiction. Hope can motivate someone about to give up to embrace gratitude. Hope can allow someone struggling with fear and isolation to reach out to a caring adult for help. Hope can bring acceptance of the disease to children, releasing shame and blame that a parent’s addiction is all their fault. In the spirit of the season, NACoA extends hope to children of all ages and wishes everyone a safe and healthy holiday.
This year, in our tradition of promoting a family friendly work/life balance, the NACoA office will be idle from Friday, December 23rd until Monday, January 2, 2023. Because at times during the holidays families impacted by the disease of addiction can experience anxiety, depression, fear, and isolation, please remember these important resources are always available:
- 988 National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (can call or text)
- SAMHSA’s National Helpline: 1.800.662.HELP (4357) – for individuals/families facing mental &/or substance use disorders
- Al-Anon/Alateen: available to individuals impacted by someone else’s drinking, with information and meeting schedules (electronic & phone meetings accessible during inclement weather)
