The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is now open supporting Family Treatment Courts – deadline: April 27th.
This opportunity supports States/Local jurisdictions who wish to enhance/expand family treatment courts for families affected by substance use disorders.
From the Executive Summary:
This NOFO will support state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized Tribal governments to establish new, enhance existing, or implement statewide or countywide family treatment courts to ensure the provision of substance use treatment and other services that improve child, parent, and family outcomes. Family treatment court grantees will provide services that address the entire family’s needs, including direct services to children of parents served in this program. Applicant proposals must specifically include the provision of treatment, recovery, and other support services that address opioid, stimulant, and other substance use reduction.
NACoA’s Celebrating Families! (CF!) is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program designed for families with a parent or caregiver experiencing substance use disorder, and fulfills a best practice for family treatment courts. This multi-generational program brings together children, teens, and adults in recovery to heal, learn, and grow together. Rooted in family-centered practices, Celebrating Families! helps interrupt cycles of SUD-related trauma by providing preventive education, strengthening family connections, fostering healthy communication, and promoting overall wellness. The program empowers children, caregivers, and their support networks with skills that build resilience and nurture whole family recovery—creating space for families to thrive together. It assumes the possibility of child welfare/kinship involvement, and its impact on the reunification process is significant: Celebrating Families! doubles the rate of reunification success in half the time.
